Kogi/Bayelsa Polls: Coalition Urges US, UK To Place Visa Ban On Politicians Sponsoring Violence

A Coalition of Civil Society teams generally known as Heart For Liberty, has known as on United States of America and United Kingdom to position visa ban on any politician and official working to undermine the elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states. 

This follows an alarm raised by the group over plans by some individuals to trigger havoc and disrupt Saturday’s gubernatorial elections each states.

The group disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja whereas submitting a petition to the Ambassadors of United States of America and United Kingdom in Nigeria at their respective embassies.

Addressing journalists after the assembly, Co-convener of CFL, Ariyo-Dare Atoye, stated the plot to undermine the 2 elections have been actual and there had been reported incidents of violence and killings.  

He stated, “We strongly advocate an extra extension of visa restriction to the instant relations of the affected politicians, people and officers chargeable for undermining our elections. 

“We want to draw the eye of the US, UK, European Union and different growth companions to the build-up of the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa scheduled for November 16, 2019, which is steadily assuming a worrying dimension.

“The plot to undermine the 2 elections are very actual and there have been reported incidents of violence and killings.”
